The Step Ahead Programme is a blended learning programme designed for self-learning opportunities. It will allow students to gain insights into what is expected of them both academically and practically when exploring a role or career pathway into healthcare. It’s designed for students aged 14 and up and is divided into two modules of learning development:

Students will take part in two modules of learning and development:

Module One:

·       Students will attend three live webinars focused on various skills to prepare them for applying and working in health and care.

·       Alongside this, students will complete independent learning in their own time with modules focused on NHS values, ethics and confidentiality and more, all created to develop the skills healthcare employers are looking for.

Module Two:

·       This module provides students with independent experiences, building on the foundation of knowledge developed in module one. This includes an independent healthcare experience in a health setting, in person at a healthcare trust or virtually through the power of virtual reality!

·       Co-developed with students using feedback from module one, there will be an additional two webinars that will support students in developing the skills and understanding they want.

·       Students in the Liverpool City Region will have the opportunity to access information, advice and guidance from qualified members of the Shaping Futures team.

·       Students in the Liverpool City Region in Year 11, 12 and 13 will have the opportunity to book a mock interview with the Shaping Futures team to prepare them for their next steps.

At the end of this programme students will have a portfolio of work and certificate recognised by Health Education England and partners across the North West which can be used on CVs, UCAS Applications and personal statements in the future.
